A gold-plated computer inspired by the 16th century French King Louis XVI
It’s time now to start seeing gadgets and computers ‘mere work tools’ as a real decorative luxury objects that enhance the royal surroundings. At the intersection of high-tech, traditional crafts and French savoire-faire, designs Chirita Paris has now invented concepts of high-tech luxury computers, which can be described as the ultimate in office bling. Declined in the classic and timeless French styles of Louis XV, Louis XVI and Empire, these object d’art computers brilliantly designed in precious metals and materials, actually promotes France as a trendsetter in the area where high-technology gets more stylish, and combines in harmony and concord with the empire-style interior and elegance of style-furniture in royal homes. Creator George Chirita who’s a French computer designer, believes in a concept of luxury technology and takes inspiration by the royalty that symbolizes French Kings, to create some wonderful hand-made computers in three styles, Louis XV, Louis XVI and Empire.

Computer Model Louis XV
Light, elegant and whimsical, the computer flat screen classic Louis XV has been crafted in the traditional French way, and has been handmade in brass, engraved bronze and alabaster, malachite or lapis lazuli, while all the metals parts are in gold.

Computer Model Louis XV
Notably, the extremely small in size central unit comes with the best components, and is embedded in the monitor cabinet. Only a single cable will be needed on the desktop, while the keyboard and a wireless mouse provide the finishing touch, giving an overall discretion unique to a luxury computer.
Computer Model Louis XVI

Computer Model Louis XVI
Elegant, balanced and reasonable, the computer inspired Louis XVI is composed of three parts, the case, columns and base. The upper part of hat is decorated with bronze acanthus leaf, and in the lower, five leaves of roses bronze water serve as setting buttons.

Computer Model Louis XVI
Further, the two columns are at the base of bronze coins turned in two rows of pearls, large barrels of alabaster columns of dark brown, terminating in bronze astragals with diagonal stripes.
Computer Model Empire

Computer Model Empire
Flat screen classic Empire has been crafted in the traditional French way, and has been handmade in brass, engraved bronze and alabaster, malachite or lapis lazuli, while all the metals parts are in gold.
These George Chirita's made-to-measure creations also featuring in-built hidden processors and a wireless mouse, are available with a starting price tag of $21,000.
On the same note, we have also earlier seen some of the other luxury gadgets like the million dollar jewelry PC ‘Baroque’, the Pure Gold PC with clean lines and stunning form factor, and the Eazo’s custom-designed high-end luxury PCs, besides the world’s most expensive computers.

chirita USB
And, for the travelers, designer George Chirita also offers gold-plated USB keys which are adorned with fleur-de-lys patterns or portable hard drives stamped with 17th-century motifs, also in gold-plate. Interestingly, Chirita also sent one of his luxury USB-keys to Her Highness Queen Elizabeth II for her legendary Diamond Jubilee this year, and now proudly displays the 'thank-you' note he received from the royal family.
Case exclusive flash drives having a capacity of 64 gigabytes, is made entirely by hand from 24-karat gold-plated brass with gold. The cost of the drive starts at 1,255 dollars.
Mercedes SL Interior Repurposed Into Office Furniture
There is automotive furniture and then there is Mercedes-Benz automotive furniture. The Stuttgart based luxury automaker Mercedes-Benz’s expertise in design and aesthetics goes beyond the realms of car interiors, which has been made obvious with its foray into the furniture business. The German automaker furniture line in collaboration the luxury furnishings company Formitalia launched at Milan furniture fair earlier this year, draws inspiration from the styling of Mercedes-Benz classic cars. The stellar collection featuring sofas, dining tables, home theater systems and beds crafted out of materials like aluminum, glass and wood used in automotive design was completely targeted at bringing the classic elegance to home aesthetics. And now the brand wants to appeal to the wealthy automotive fanatics like the Brazilian billionaire Eike Batista, whose Jardim Botanico mansion in Rio de Janeiro has a Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren displayed as a showpiece. This time around, Mercedes has collaborated with South African designer Katie Thompson, known for her recycled furniture. The designer known for repurposing junk into treasure with her sophisticated styling and design expertise, has picked seven individual components of Mercedes-Benz SL to recreate furniture and furnishings for the office.

Artist Katie Thompson
Together with local artisans and craftsmen she turned the car’s dashboard into a unique desk where the former speedometer is repurposed to become a magnetised pad, the air vents morphed to become a business card slot, while the oval speed and rev counter now featuring a curved world clock and the ignition lock used to serve a USB charger.

Driver’s seat office chair
The driver’s seat became a comfortable office chair, and the rear-view mirror transformed into a desk lamp, complemented by a gas and brake pedal pen holder. The chairs reminds us of the classy 2013 Mercedes-Benz SL500 Nappa leather interior in nail polish red to appeal to the femme fatales as well.

Mercedes-Benz SL seat
Mercedes-Benz design forays in the past include the Mercedes-Benz EC145 helicopter, tailored for the Mercedes experience in the skies. The Eurcopter project was though conceived by the Mercedes-Benz Advanced Design Studio in Como, Italy themselves.

World's most expensive hard disk made of sapphire will last 1 million years
Seems like, now, one doesn’t need to worry about backing up the important data in one or the other storage mediums, as a team of scientists have created a sapphire disk drive, inside which the data is engraved with the use of platinum, and will survive for 1 million years. The project was actually born when nuclear waste repositories builders realized the serious need to preserve reliable records of what exactly they have buried and where, not for a few-years, but for tens of thousands of years. But, not everyone can afford it, as the prototype disk only costs $30,000, making it one of the most expensive hard disks.
Most of the countries with nuclear power stations do agree that the solutions for dealing with long-lived nuclear waste is to store it 500 meters deep inside the earth. But, the most uncontrollable factor of concern among the nuclear scientists is the archaeologists of the future or others with a strong penchant for excavation and digging history and discovering new things. And, scientists believe that coming future will be radically different from today, and humans have no idea how humans will think in the coming thousands of thousands of years.
So, in 2010, a France-based nuclear waste management agency named ANDRA began a project to address these futuristic nuclear waste management issues. And, the sapphire disk to last 1 million years is one of the product of this futuristic effort.
Made from two thin disks of industrial sapphire, about 20cm across, each of a single disk is able to store about 40,000 miniaturized pages. And, then the two disks are fused together molecularly. And, to read the stored data, all a future archaeologist would need to have is a simple microscope. Further, to test the durability and to simulate aging, the disk has been immersed in acid.
The nuclear agency ANDRA however hopes to demonstrate a lifetime of 10 million years.
Anita Mai Tan $880,000 Dragon and Spider iPhone case can be worn as a necklace

Acclaimed international jewelry designer to world’s elite and royalty, Anita Mai TAN of Al-Gems Global Design House, known for her custom designed jewelry pieces that have been called the technical marvels have now released her double $880,000 iPhone case, the new Dragon and Spider that can be worn as a necklace. With poetry and nature as her muse, Anita has devoted her 16 months to delicately craft these brilliant iPhone cases. Regarded to be among the rare Asian born creators, to have her creation ‘The Eye’ exhibited by the U.S. Museum of GIA to be part of their signature collection, Anita has earlier designed an epitome of fine pens, the million dollar Heaven GoldPen, which is also one of the most expensive writing instruments and the first ever luxurious pen designed by a women for a women.
Phillips Fidelio DS3880W
When was the last time you had your eyes tested? This may look like an Air Multiplier after a seven-day doughnut binge, but the DS 3880S pushes air around in avery different fashion. Rather than cooling you down, its aim is to fill the air up with music. Phillips calls it a SoundRing, which means it includes a central bass sound pipe and four drivers (two firing from the front and two from the side), all fed by a built-in 16W amp.
Where do you put your iPod? Adding a dock to the DS would spoil the look, so it relies entirely on Apple’s AirPlay trch to stream tunes via Wi-Fi from your iPod Touch,iPhone,iPad or computer’s iTunes library. A Fidelio app adds internet radio and a five-band equaliser. Non-Apple MP3 players aren’t completely ignored, but you’ll need to use a stone-age auxiliary input to get them involved.
Then you will like this bit, The base is not there just to stop the SoundRing rolling off the table like a runaway boulder in a Road Runner cartoon; it also acts as a neat, detachable power cradle for the ring’s built-inn rechargeable battery. Once fully juices it will give you 3 hours of untethered AirPlay tune time, or six hours if your source is plugged in via 3.5mm jack. Not bad for an overweight home appliance and that is certainly not all hot air.
Beats Mixr
The way things are going it will not be long before even Leo Sayer has his own range of headphones. Until that day, pedlar of bad Euro house David Guetta has joined Dr. Dre’s headphone harem. The 180 degrees swivelling ear cups make Mr Guetta’s Mixr cans ideal for DJs and apparently they will also go nice and loud without distorting, which should come in handy when your mix is turned up to 11, or for blocking out any exterior noise interruptions, it is upto you.
Toshiba ZL2
If putting on a pair of glasses to watch the telly is about as natural to you as wearing a wetsuit and flippers in bed, then Toshiba’s 55in ZL2 is the velvet onesie of 3D TVs. With a quad full HD lenticular screen beaming a different 1080p perspective to each eye (which your brain then assembles into a 3D image), the only lenses here are the ones built into the screen that adjust the picture for upto nine different sofa-bound gawpers at once. A face-tracking camera squeezed into the skinny bezel works out where everyone’s sitting, thus eliminating the 3D sweetspot normally found with glasses-free gadgets. Clever, eh?
BMW M Bike for human-powered speed
BMW’s M motors are known for their above average speed and handling, and this one, even though it’s peddle-powered, is no different. The M Bike boasts high-tech components, includding a matte anthracite frame, disc breaks, a Shimano SLX gear system, Manitou Match suspension fork on the front wheel (that stuff’s so advanced, even we don’t know what half of it does). It does sound speedy though.
Style is provided by a leather saddle with red inlay and red-accented rims with a matching handlebar. There’s no price just yet, but it’s bound to be expensive. That said, most M class vehicles are.
Bentley’s 150k multimedia package gives your wheels iPads

If a standard Bentley isn’t enough to satisfy your gadget lust then you may wish to consider putting down another US$250,000 on top of the Mulsanne’s US$350,000 base price in a package that promises all sorts of decadent extravagance.
The extra injection of cash will nab you a pair of iPads (with Bluetooth keyboards) that are skilfully integrated in to the rear tray tables as well as a 320GB Mac mini hidden away in the boot. A drop-down HD LED screen located in the roof lining should satisfy all entertainment requirements and the ability to control reading lights as well all audio and video sources via a custom-built app is a handy little touch.
An iPod dock is of course also included, slotted away in a rear console which boasts a fridge and a not-so-high-tech tissue box. If you’re in the market for a luxury ride then we suggest you start saving those pennies – we’ve already ordered a dozen. Let’s hope they don’t ask for a deposit…
The weighty, well-built Zeppelin has had a slight rejig, but it remains unmistakable. The original premium iPod dock is now one of the first AirPlay docks; you can stream music to it from an iThing, Mac or PC via iTunes, using your Wi-Fi network. Its USB input lets you sync your iOS device to iTunes from the dock, a video output will pipe its videos to a screen and a 3.5mm input hooks up other music players. The speaker is supplied with a fairly basic remote, but you can also your iDevice’s more detailed interface for full control of your music.

Sound quality
Switching between a docked iPhone and an AirPlay device isn’t as slick as we’d like, but it works. There is a slight drop in audio quality with AirPlay compared to a docked portable, but either way you can expect a big, powerful sound with lashings of bass and voices that are natural and detailed. It goes loud without any hint of trouble.
Are you peddling useless robot pets again?
Not at all, this is a different breed of robot entirely. Animal-bots are being created left, right and centre in the labs of universities like Stanford, where this ceiling-clambering gecko robot StickyBotlll was built.
Robot gecko? Are you mad?
You’ll change your tune when the Shrewbot saves your life. It’s a superhuman robot developed at the University of Sheffield that has 18 whiskers to help distinguish between different surfaces. So when you find yourself in a burning, smoke-filled house, maybe a Shrewbot is exactly what you’ll want by your side.
Any more superhero robopets?
As a matter of fact, there is. The Delfly is a tiny piece of remote control tech – it has two pairs of flapping wings like a dragonfly plus a camera on board– pretty nifty for high octane recon expeditions. Like sending it out to see which of your housemates is scoffing all your snacks at night. Then again, these animal-bots aren’t likely to hit Christmas shelves until, say, 2030 so best to settle any biscuit disputes the old-fashioned way for now.

Agility Saietta R
AN ENVIRONMENTALLY-FRIENDLY SUPERBIKE
US $2,000 www.saietta.com
So you want to buy a motorbike? You’ve got two options; get a petrol-powered hog that pumps out enough toxic fumes to suffocate a penguin at 200 paces, or give in and pick something so dreary and inoffensive it might as well run on hummus.
Well those were your options until Agility unveiled the gorgeous Saietta. It’s Judge Dredd-meets-Tron design means it’ll turn as many heads as a snarling Harley (even if the hump does make it look a little like a robotic camel), while its electric motor packs enough punch to hit 60mph in 4 seconds without making a polar bear homeless. Factor in the 100-mile range and suddenly the choice is easy. Mind that Penguin when you’re pulling out of the driveway won’t you?
Mug That stirs Your Drink and the touch of a button
It’s called the Self Stirring Lazy Mug and was created by Plain Lazy to hold your tea, coffee, hot chocolate or other mixed drink, and by pressing the special button on the handle it starts to stir your drink. This means you won’t need a spoon to stir drinks manually and I bet this would soon become your favorite mug.
These would make great promotional mugs for your business or event I would think!
Some recommend it for coffee, but I’d say it’s not a good idea if you make your coffee in a coffee pot, because it’s not pleasant to feel the coffee remains in your mouth. It could work though if you use a coffee filter.
The mug powers from batteries and keeps your drink warm for a long period of time. It measures 9 x 11 x 11 cm at 0.2Kg.

The Magic Wand Remote requires only magicians’ moves to seamlessly change channels, up the volume or record your favourite programme. And the best thing is that you can decide which moves are which so that your wand can only be hijacked by those you entrust the moves to.
The wand will even vibrate to let you know when it recognises a command and when it’s running out of batteries. It will also turn itself off after being inactive for 60 seconds and then wake up as soon as you pick it up again.
